Airways Group, Inc. (NYSE: LCC) today announced August and
year-to-date 2012 traffic results. Mainline revenue passenger miles
(RPMs) for the month were 5.9 billion, up 5.3 percent versus August
2011. Mainline capacity was 6.8 billion available seat miles (ASMs),
up 5.3 percent versus August 2011. Mainline passenger load factor was
87.3 percent for the month of August, flat versus August 2011.
US Airways' President Scott Kirby said, "Our August consolidated (mainline and Express) passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased approximately one percent versus the same period last year. These results reflect difficult year-over-year comparisons resulting from the temporary expiration in August 2011 of certain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ticket taxes on domestic and international air travel. As we wind down the busy summer travel season, I would like to thank and congratulate our 32,000 employees, who continue to do an outstanding job of making US Airways an industry leader in operational excellence. We look forward to continuing this strong operational performance into the fall and beyond."
For the month of August, US Airways' preliminary on-time performance as reported to the U.S. Department of Transportation was 83.5 percent with a completion factor of 99.0 percent.
