There’s more than one way to experience East Africa. On foot, from the air, or somewhere in between, a change in perspective can reveal an entirely different side of the bush.

 | Crossing the Conservation Finish Line | Ker & Downey World Travel’s Philanthropy Manager, Amy Willis, completed the ForRangers Ultramarathon last month, running 137 miles self-supported over five days. The route took her through five of Kenya’s key conservancies, including Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Ker & Downey’s philanthropic partner, for which Amy raised $7,000. Beyond the physical challenge and fundraising effort, the race offered something equally remarkable: the opportunity to become immersed in the Kenyan bush in its rawest form, moving through the landscape on foot and connecting with the wilderness in an entirely different way.
“Not many people get to see Kenya the way I did—completely untamed and unpolished. Being intertwined with these great creatures and those who protect them, on foot, was an experience I will not forget.”

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy Our Philanthropic Partner in East Africa | Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) is a wildlife sanctuary in northern Kenya. The conservancy is part of the UNESCO Mt. Kenya World Heritage Site, a Man & Biosphere Reserve, that has been green listed by the IUCN, and recognized as a Key Biodiversity Area, for excellence in protected area management. We are proud to partner with LWC’s efforts towards protecting endangered species. |
