IHG Hotels & Resorts will enter UNESCO-listed Luang Prabang in 2027 with the planned opening of Holiday Inn Resort Luang Prabang Naluang Hill, expanding its presence in Laos as the country seeks to strengthen its international tourism appeal.
The hotel group confirmed on October 20, 2026 that it has signed a management agreement with Naluang International Resort and Hotel Limited for the 101-room property, marking the Holiday Inn Resort brand’s debut in the historic Lao destination.
Located on Naluang Hill, the resort will offer views of Luang Prabang while providing access to the city’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed old town, known for its centuries-old Buddhist temples, traditional architecture and distinctive blend of Lao and French colonial influences.
Luang Prabang is among Laos’ leading tourism draws, attracting international visitors with its cultural heritage, riverside setting and natural attractions. Highlights include Mount Phousi, Kuang Si Falls, the Pak Ou Caves and excursions along the Mekong River.
Improving regional connectivity is also supporting the destination’s tourism prospects. Luang Prabang International Airport and high-speed rail connections are making the city more accessible to travelers exploring Laos and neighboring countries.
Holiday Inn Resort Luang Prabang Naluang Hill will feature a mix of rooms, suites and villas designed around a leisure-focused resort experience. Planned facilities include four food and beverage outlets, a swimming pool, a fitness center and a spa.
The development will also include more than 500 m² of meeting space, targeting small and medium-sized events, corporate retreats and other group gatherings. The combination of leisure amenities and event facilities is intended to serve both vacationers and business travelers visiting the destination.
The project will extend IHG’s presence beyond the Lao capital, Vientiane, where the group currently operates two hotels across two brands: Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn & Suites. Together, the properties account for 471 rooms.
The Luang Prabang agreement adds another destination to IHG’s regional portfolio and introduces a resort offering in a city where cultural tourism is a major draw.
The planned 2027 opening will give IHG a presence in one of Southeast Asia’s best-known heritage destinations, while for Luang Prabang, the development adds internationally branded accommodation as improved transport links support access to its historic center, temples and surrounding natural attractions.
