Finnair strengthens its Japan network for next summer

Finnair will add more flights to Tokyo next summer as demand for Japan remains strong, with the airline planning up to three daily Helsinki-Tokyo services during peak travel periods, offering frequencies to both Haneda and Narita international airports.

The Finnish carrier will increase frequencies on its Tokyo Narita route from May 12 through August 14, 2027, while continuing its daily service to Tokyo Haneda.

The additional Narita flights will give Finnair a record number of connections between Helsinki and Tokyo, with up to three flights a day combining Narita and Haneda services.

The schedule is designed to facilitate connections between Japan and Finnair’s extensive European network through its Helsinki hub.

“Japan is our biggest market after Finland, and demand for flights to Japan has remained strong,” said Christine Rovelli, Finnair’s chief revenue officer.

The airline has been steadily expanding its Japan capacity in recent years. With the new Narita frequencies, Finnair will increase its Japan schedule from 28 weekly flights this summer to as many as 32 per week in summer 2027.

The expansion further strengthens Finnair’s position among the leading European carriers serving Japan.

Finnair operates year-round flights to Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita and Osaka. During the summer season, it also serves Nagoya, making it the only European airline operating flights to the Japanese city.

The additional Narita service will operate from May 12 through August 14, except for the Helsinki-Narita flight on May 13 and the return Narita-Helsinki service on May 14.

The new schedule is:

AY71 Helsinki-Narita: 12:20-7:15 (+1)

AY72 Narita-Helsinki: 8:55-15:35
