The opening follows the ongoing refurbishment of 32 suites and the introduction of a new concierge arrival space, further enhancing Grosvenor House Suites as a residential-style address in the heart of Mayfair. The addition of Ember Cigars expands the property’s offering with a private setting for socialising, informal meetings, entertaining and relaxed occasions.
EMBER CIGARS TASTING LOUNGE
The concept was informed by research into some of London’s established cigar destinations, with the aim of creating a cigar lounge that complements the character and atmosphere of Grosvenor House Suites. An advanced ventilation system, developed in partnership with Swiss specialists, has been integrated throughout the space to maintain air quality and comfort.
Inspired by Grosvenor House Suites’ location between Hyde Park and Mayfair, the interiors reinterpret the traditional cigar lounge in a contemporary setting. Dark timber panelling is complemented by a palette of green, taupe and rust tones, while a feature fireplace clad in Verde Alpi marble creates a focal point within the space.
The venue features a bespoke humidor showcasing a curated selection of premium cigars from Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras and the Dominican Republic, including vintage regional and limited-edition releases. The drinks menu has been designed to complement the cigar experience, with a range of fine wines, speciality teas, artisan coffee and curated whisky flights. Guests can explore whiskies from leading Scottish distilleries alongside rare and collectible expressions such as Glenturret 50-Year-Old, Hazelwood, and Rosebank, Gordon & MacPhail 1990.
CRAFTSMANSHIP AND PARTNERSHIPS
Leading the operation is Rhys Hamilton, who brings more than 15 years’ experience in the UK cigar industry. Hamilton has previously held positions with some of London’s best-known cigar retailers, including Alfred Dunhill, Sautter Cigars and Davidoff of London.
Ember Cigars will also feature a curated selection of collaborations and brands, including Swiss watchmaker Jacob & Co., Scottish whisky distillery The Glenturret in partnership with Lalique, and British designer Alexandra Llewellyn. Renowned for her handcrafted games, accessories and bespoke commissions, Alexandra Llewellyn creates highly personalised pieces from her London studio, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Together, these partnerships complement Ember Cigars’ positioning as a destination for leisure, entertaining and meaningful social experiences.
As part of the launch, Grosvenor House Suites has also partnered with Kathryn Sargent, the first British female Master Tailor, to design new uniforms for the Ember Cigars team. Renowned for her pioneering role on Savile Row, Sargent’s designs reflect the property’s commitment to craftsmanship, heritage, and personalised service.
