Rostock, August 30, 2026 The Orlando Magic Summer Tour made its debut on a cruise ship, marking the highlight of AIDA's 2026 Basketball Summer.
One week before the start of the FIBA Women's World Cup in Berlin, AIDA Cruises and Kellogg's, two brands, made a strong statement in support of basketball in Germany: The AIDA Basketball Day on board AIDAperla brought together fans, partners, influencers, and national and international basketball personalities in the Port of Hamburg
The event was the highlight of AIDA's 2026 Basketball Summer and also part of the Orlando Magic Summer Tour, which made its first stop on a cruise ship. AIDA's 2026 Basketball Summer includes partnerships with the FIBA Women's World Cup in Berlin, basketball camps with players and coaches from the Rostock Seawolves on board, and numerous interactive activities for guests and fans. With Basketball Day, AIDA combines sports, travel, and entertainment in a unique event format. Instead of a traditional arena, the basketball community gathered on board a cruise ship. Guests included NBA legend Mickaël Piétrus, 3x3 Olympic gold medalist Sonja Greinacher (Paris 2024), and delegations from the ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES and HAMBURG TOWERS.
A key element of the program was the Orlando Magic Clinic on the sports deck of the AIDAperla. Young basketball players had the opportunity to train on the open-air court alongside prominent figures and experience the sport up close. The program was complemented by a live podcast with André "Dré" Voigt, shooting challenges with guests and professionals against the backdrop of Hamburg's harbor, and personal encounters with the athletes. With this event format, AIDA not only raises the profile of basketball but also makes it a tangible experience for guests, fans, and partners.
Furthermore, basketball influencer Angie Raab covered the event on her social media channels, giving her community insights into the onboard activities.
The program also included a live podcast with André "Dré" Voigt, shooting challenges with guests and professionals against the backdrop of Hamburg's harbor, and opportunities to meet the athletes. The AIDA Basketball Day marked the culmination of a summer in which AIDA continuously expanded its commitment to basketball. In addition to partnerships in competitive and elite sports, the focus is particularly on participatory activities. Basketball camps on board, prize draws surrounding the FIBA Women's World Cup, and digital activations offered guests and fans a variety of ways to engage with the sport. AIDA is also a partner of the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup in Berlin and other basketball events, thereby strengthening its presence in the world of one of Germany's most dynamic team sports.
