- True to its historic 106-year commitment to connectivity, Avianca will make available, on a voluntary basis, its human and operational capacity to offer return options to passengers affected by the situation faced by Spirit, as it did on previous occasions due to the cessation of operations of other airlines in the region.
- Avianca will offer the option of return without airfare charge – subject to the availability and terms of this protection plan – to passengers affected by Spirit who have already started their journey.
2 May 2026. In the face of the public awareness situation that Spirit Airlines is experiencing, Avianca makes available to the authorities and affected passengers its network of available routes and seats, with the aim of mitigating the impact and facilitating the continuation of passengers' travel plans.
This is not the first time that Avianca has taken this initiative. During previous crises, which resulted in the cessation of activities of other operators, the company mobilized resources to protect hundreds of thousands of affected passengers, reaffirming its commitment to the stability of air transport in the region.
In this sense, Avianca offers the option of return without charge of airfare to those who have already flown the one-way leg and have a return ticket with Spirit to the original destination that was affected. This option is subject to availability and the terms of the protection plan.
Passengers may arrive at the airport on the same day of departure or, at most, one day before, to be relocated to available Avianca flights, in order of arrival. This alternative applies to passengers with tickets issued – subject to verification – between 2 May and 16 May 2026.
*Passengers must assume the payment of taxes, fees, contributions, administrative fee, as well as any other mandatory charges that their trip requires, as determined by the competent authorities.
