Rail Europe expands night train offering with European Sleeper integration

PARIS – Rail Europe has expanded its portfolio of European rail products through the integration of European Sleeper services, enhancing its cross-border offering in response to increasing demand for overnight rail travel.

The integration provides travel sellers worldwide with access to new overnight routes connecting major European cities, including Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels and Prague, as well as the recently launched Paris–Berlin service. Further expansion is planned, with additional routes such as Brussels–Milan expected to be introduced later this year.

The addition of European Sleeper complements Rail Europe’s existing night train portfolio, broadening the range of overnight travel options available on its platform and enabling partners to respond to growing demand for cross-border rail itineraries.

Demand for night train travel continues to grow across Europe, supported by rising passenger volumes. In France, night train usage increased by 26% between 2023 and 2024, surpassing one million passengers in a single year for the first time in decades, according to data from the French Transport Regulatory Authority.

This trend has continued into 2025, with operators expanding both routes and capacity to meet sustained demand. Similar patterns are reflected across Rail Europe’s platform, driven by international travellers and increased interest in flexible, cross-border travel options.

In many cases, demand for sleeper services continues to exceed available capacity, highlighting opportunities for further expansion of the European night train network.

Björn Bender, CEO of Rail Europe, stated: “European Sleeper brings an exciting new dimension to our platform, expanding the range of overnight travel options available to our global partners. As demand for cross-border rail continues to grow, particularly among international travellers, this integration allows us to offer greater choice and flexibility, while supporting the ongoing development of the European night train network.”

The integration reinforces Rail Europe’s role as a global distribution platform for European rail content, creating additional commercial opportunities for travel sellers. European Sleeper services are available through Rail Europe’s platform and API, enabling seamless integration into partner product offerings.
