NEW YORK, NY – Secret Atlas, a company specialising in small-group polar exploration, announced the launch of a new Svalbard and Greenland Summer Expedition Micro Cruise scheduled for 2027.
The two-week expedition combines two Arctic destinations in a single journey and will be operated aboard the icebreaker expedition vessel MV Freya. The cruise will accommodate a small group of up to 12 passengers.
The itinerary will depart in August 2027, travelling from the fjords of Svalbard to the icebergs and mountainous landscapes of East Greenland. The journey will take place during the Arctic summer period when daylight remains continuous for 24 hours.
The expedition will cross the Fram Strait as it navigates between the two regions, offering opportunities to observe Arctic wildlife including polar bears, blue whales and humpback whales during their migration through northern waters.
Michele D’Agostino, Co-Founder of Secret Atlas, said: “We designed this combined expedition for explorers who want a truly immersive Arctic experience with the benefits of travelling in a small and intimate group. By connecting Svalbard and East Greenland, we’re offering a unique opportunity to explore both destinations in a single journey and navigate remote shorelines and narrow fjords that larger vessels simply cannot reach.”
The Svalbard and East Greenland Summer Micro Cruise will depart on 8 August 2027. The itinerary includes exploration of the Scoresbysund region, recognised as the world’s largest fjord system, as well as travel beyond 80° North in search of pack ice. The route will cross both the Fram Strait and the Denmark Strait.
The expedition package includes onboard accommodation, full-board meals and beverages, Starlink Wi-Fi connectivity, exploratory activities, rubber sole boots for shore landings, insulation suits and local transfers.
