9th Africa Business Tourism & MICE Masterclass to focus on regional integration and sector readiness

JOHANESBURG – The Africa Business Tourism & MICE Masterclass will hold its ninth edition from 9 to 10 April 2026, bringing together stakeholders from across the continent’s business events sector at a time when the industry is entering a new growth cycle.

The forum will convene destination marketing organizations and professional conference organizers seeking to respond to rising international demand for intra-African travel and the delivery of large-scale business events. The 2026 edition is designed as a technical platform for the exchange of operational knowledge across the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) value chain.

The program will host a targeted cohort of delegates, with registration currently open to industry participants. The masterclass focuses on the professionalization of the sector through structured training modules aimed at strengthening bidding processes for international association events and improving the management of high-yield business delegations.

Participants will engage in evidence-based sessions that address operational practices and strategic planning required for the organization of international meetings and exhibitions. The curriculum is structured to support the transition from traditional event logistics toward strategic event management, including approaches to measuring return on investment and the operational standards required for convention centres and related infrastructure.

The masterclass will also examine destination competitiveness within the global business tourism market. Delegates will review operational aspects of the incentive travel segment, which is increasingly incorporating experiential elements and cultural programming aligned with corporate objectives.

In addition to training modules, the forum will facilitate policy dialogue and cross-border networking among industry stakeholders. The discussions will focus on strengthening collaboration among destinations, event organizers, and infrastructure operators involved in Africa’s business tourism ecosystem.

As the program enters its final preparation phase, participation remains open to stakeholders from the hospitality, aviation, and academic sectors. Attendance is limited to maintain a focused B2B environment for professional exchange and sector dialogue.
