The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami has officially reopened following a comprehensive $100 million redevelopment that brings a renewed sense of modern coastal glamour to one of South Florida’s most established resort destinations. Just minutes from Miami, the 17-acre beachfront property now enters a new era defined by contemporary design, elevated dining and a revitalised wellness offering.
The transformation, led by luxury developers Gencom and design
studios Hart Howerton, DesignAgency and Chapi Chapo Design, marks the resort’s first full renovation
in nearly 25 years. Open-air architecture, uninterrupted ocean views and
sun-washed tones now characterise the refreshed identity of the iconic island
resort.
“As we reopen our doors, we are honored to welcome guests back to our
iconic beachfront enclave that has been an integral part of Miami’s glamorous
legacy for decades,” said Derek Flint, Market General Manager. “This next chapter of The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami
celebrates our expansive landscape, luxury oceanfront accommodations and vibrant
setting designed for global travelers and locals alike. We’ve created a resort
intended to transport our guests and inspire celebration, reconnection and
rejuvenation.”
A renewed
coastal retreat
The redevelopment introduces a refined indoor–outdoor guest experience
inspired by Key Biscayne’s mid-century charm. A sweeping glass façade, tropical
gardens and expansive terraces create a seamless connection to the surrounding
landscape. The new design incorporates natural materials and contemporary lines,
enhancing both ambience and functionality across the resort’s public and
private spaces.
Guest rooms and suites have been redesigned with custom furnishings,
layered natural textures and colour palettes reflecting the sea and sand.
Floor-to-ceiling windows offer ocean or garden views, while private terraces
maximise the coastal setting. The new Presidential Suite, measuring 2,620
square feet, features two bedrooms, generous indoor–outdoor living areas and
panoramic vistas of Biscayne Bay.
Dining concepts
inspired by the sea and global flavours
Six new dining and beverage concepts highlight a culinary programme shaped
by local sourcing and international influences.
Luma offers a Mediterranean dining experience with
modern Italian dishes, grilled seafood, seasonal vegetables and handmade
pastas. Along the shore, Paralía introduces
Aegean flavours inspired by Greek and Turkish coastal cuisine, led by Executive
Chef Renato Mekolli. The menu centres on local
seafood, meze plates and whole grilled fish complemented by citrus and herbs.
Rum Bar brings a sophisticated
yet relaxed atmosphere to the lobby lounge, while Dune Beach Bar transitions
from a daytime retreat to a lively evening venue with cocktails and
sea-inspired plates. Poolside, Stefano’s serves wood-fired pizzas, and Scoop
provides traditional Italian-style gelato.
The reopening also introduces Pura Vida Miami’s
wellness-focused all-day café and confections from Bissinger’s Handcrafted
Chocolatier.
A new benchmark
in wellness: The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Key Biscayne
A major highlight of the redevelopment is the launch of The Ritz-Carlton
Spa, Key Biscayne, a 30,000-square-foot wellness centre offering 16 treatment
rooms, a full-service salon, couples suites and a sensory spa garden with
private cabanas. Treatments are rooted in sound therapy and elemental healing,
with guests invited to join a daily Renewal Ritual focusing on intention and
grounding.
A revitalised oceanfront fitness centre enhances the wellness offering,
alongside Tremble’s reformer-based training and complimentary daily classes in
yoga, stretching and body sculpting.
Leisure
programming for all travellers
The resort has expanded its leisure offering with new water sports,
refreshed pools and upgraded cabanas. The Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center now
features tennis, pickleball and padel courts. Curated retail boutiques enhance
the lifestyle atmosphere with fashion, accessories and locally inspired
products.
For families, the new Ritz Kids Club blends nature-inspired design with
interactive, educational programming to encourage creativity and discovery.
With its extensive reinvention, the reopening positions The Ritz-Carlton
Key Biscayne, Miami as a renewed luxury destination in South Florida – one that
blends coastal elegance with contemporary guest expectations and responds to
the evolving demands of global travellers and the meetings and leisure markets.
