Marriott International has announced a major growth milestone for its midscale portfolio, reaching 100 signed agreements for City Express by Marriott properties across the United States and Canada. The achievement comes just over a year after the brand’s introduction to the region and reflects accelerating demand for value-driven midscale accommodation.
In 2025, six City Express by Marriott hotels have already opened in the U.S. and Canada, with four additional properties expected to open by the end of the year. According to Marriott, the pace of development underlines both owner interest and growing guest demand in this segment.
“City Express by Marriott continues to demonstrate incredible momentum in the U.S. and Canada, with this milestone occurring just over a year after we introduced the midscale brand to the region,” said Noah Silverman, Global Development Officer, U.S. and Canada. “Reaching 100 signings for City Express by Marriott reflects the strong appetite for midscale in the market, and we’re thrilled to offer owners a new opportunity to join the Marriott Bonvoy ecosystem while providing guests with more ways to travel with us.”
Marriott’s strategy focuses on scaling strong regional brands to achieve global reach. Originally established in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), City Express by Marriott is now expanding beyond the Americas. The company recently announced agreements to introduce the brand in Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC), with two planned hotels in Osaka, Japan.
Positioned for value-conscious travelers, City Express by Marriott offers efficient and reliable stays designed to attract both business and leisure guests. Typical features include modern guestrooms, complimentary breakfast, high-speed internet, and practical amenities. The brand’s conversion-friendly model also enables owners to bring properties to market quickly under the Marriott Bonvoy platform.
Recent signings across the U.S. and Canada include:
- City Express by Marriott Kissimmee, a 197-room hotel near Orlando, offering access to major leisure and entertainment attractions.
- City Express by Marriott Dulles, a planned 90-room property near Dulles Airport, which will undergo a full renovation before joining the brand.
- City Express by Marriott Amarillo, a 73-room hotel serving the Texas Panhandle, targeting road-trip and regional travelers.
- City Express by Marriott Sandusky, expected to feature 50 guestrooms near Lake Erie and family-oriented attractions.
- City Express by Marriott Carson City, an 86-room property in Nevada’s capital, serving both business and leisure demand.
With continued signings and openings planned, Marriott International sees City Express by Marriott as a key growth driver within its global midscale strategy, offering owners and travelers a compelling blend of value, consistency, and brand reach.
