Etihad Airways adds third daily Munich–Abu Dhabi flight with Airbus A321LR from 2026

Etihad Airways has announced a significant expansion of its services from Munich Airport, increasing frequencies on the Munich–Abu Dhabi route from two to three daily nonstop flights. The enhanced schedule will take effect from 1 September 2026, further strengthening the airline’s presence at Bavaria’s main international hub.

The additional daily service will operate in the afternoon and will be flown with the Airbus A321LR, the latest addition to Etihad’s fleet. The new departure is scheduled at 4:10 pm from Munich and is positioned between the two existing daily flights, which will continue to be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Tickets for the expanded schedule are already available for booking.

According to the airline, the capacity increase reflects steadily growing demand on the Munich route. Since Etihad’s first flight to Munich on 5 June 2004, initially operated three times weekly on the Abu Dhabi–Geneva–Munich–Abu Dhabi routing, the service has seen continuous development. To date, Etihad has carried around four million passengers to and from Munich.

The expanded Munich operation further enhances connectivity via Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub, offering onward connections to a wide range of destinations across the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific. This network structure provides additional flexibility for both business and leisure travellers using Munich as a departure point.

Abu Dhabi continues to position itself as a diversified destination, combining cultural attractions and historic landmarks with large-scale leisure developments, hotels and retail infrastructure. The city also hosts major international events, including the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, supporting year-round demand.

The deployment of the Airbus A321LR forms part of Etihad’s broader growth strategy. Despite being a narrowbody aircraft, the A321LR features a premium cabin configuration that includes two private First Suites with fully flat beds and closing doors, 14 Business Class seats with direct aisle access, and 144 Economy Class seats equipped with a full inflight entertainment offering. This configuration allows Etihad to operate the route efficiently while maintaining a high level of onboard comfort.
