Alternative procedures in the terminal are now well established and stable. Passenger check-in at the check-in counters is running smoothly and efficiently. Some airlines are still checking in their passengers manually, which may cause occasional delays. Other airlines are now using their own check-in systems, which speeds up the process.
The airport company continues to recommend that passengers use their airline's online check-in service. In addition, there are numerous self-service kiosks available at the airport that are fully functional and can be used without waiting times. Nineteen airlines are connected to this system, which allows passengers to check in independently in the terminals and print their boarding passes. In connection with the Berlin Marathon, an increased number of departing runners and visitors is expected late Sunday afternoon and on Monday. Here, too, the airport operator recommends using digital and automated services for check-in whenever possible. Runners are asked not to wear their medals around their necks during security checks, but to stow them in their carry-on luggage and set them aside separately to avoid delays during the check.
