Finnair cancels approximately 100 flights on July 2 due to industrial action - Customers are being contacted directly

The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) has announced industrial action on Wednesday, July 2, at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. If the planned actions are implemented, they will impact all essential ground services related to Finnair flights.

Due to the planned industrial action, Finnair will have to cancel approximately 100 flights on Wednesday, July 2. These cancellations will affect the travel plans of roughly 7,000 customers.

Customers with bookings on July 2 will receive information from Finnair in case their flight is cancelled. Finnair will contact affected passengers once the cancellations are processed in the system starting today, June 30. After that, customers will receive a new routing based on the contact details in their booking. The information will also appear in the Manage Booking service and Finnair’s mobile app. Depending on availability, the proposed new route can be changed via Manage Booking or Customer Service. Alternatively, customers may cancel their trip and request a refund for the ticket.

Finnair has allowed customers scheduled to travel on July 2 to change their flight date without additional charges, and thousands have taken advantage of this option.

The IAU has also announced industrial action on July 4, 7, 16, 18, 21, and 23. The potential impacts of these actions are still being assessed, so Finnair’s Customer Service is unable to provide information about possible flight cancellations on those dates now. Finnair will notify affected customers directly of cancellations two days in advance.

Customers with bookings on 4 and 7 July are encouraged to change their travel date already now. Flights can be rescheduled to an earlier date or postponed until the end of September. The change can be made via Finnair’s Manage Booking service if their ticket type allows changes. In other cases, changes can be made by contacting Finnair customer service or the travel agency that sold the tickets.  The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) has also announced industrial action for 16, 18, 21, and 23 July. The impact of industrial action on these days is still being assessed, but is expected to be smaller than in early July.

Finnair apologises for the inconvenience and uncertainty caused by the situation and recommends checking the Finnair website for the latest travel updates at www.finnair.com/travelupdates .
