WASHINGTON – Travel industry leaders William D. “Bill” Talbert, III, former president and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Christopher L. Thompson, former president and CEO of Brand USA, were inducted into the US Travel Association Hall of Leaders last Wednesday.

Talbert and Thompson were honored at a dinner attended by more than 100 travel industry leaders during US Travel’s Fall Engagement Week in Washington, D.C.

Distinguished individuals are named to the US Travel Association’s Hall of Leaders for sustained, noteworthy contributions that have positively impacted the travel industry and raised industrywide standards. To date, 108 individuals have been named to US Travel’s highest honor.

The Hall of Leaders was established in 1969 as part of US Travel’s National Awards Program to recognize individual contributions to the travel and tourism industry. Induction to the U.S. Travel Hall of Leaders is the single highest and most revered honor an individual in the travel and tourism industry can receive.

The award is presented by the US Travel Association. Inductees into the Hall of Leaders are individuals who have made sustained, noteworthy contributions that have strengthened the broad travel and tourism industry. The exemplary vision and leadership demonstrated by these individuals have strengthened and unified the industry well beyond their own organizations, industry segments or communities.

U.S. Travel Association is the national, non-profit organization representing the $1.2 trillion travel industry, an essential contributor to our nation’s economy and success. U.S. Travel produces programs and insights and advocates for policies to increase travel to and within the United States.
