Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands – 11th November 2024 – The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) is excited to host the second annual Tourism Education Symposium on Thursday, November 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., focusing on “Navigating Careers in Hospitality and Tourism.” This year’s symposium will bring together a panel of distinguished professionals, providing secondary students with unique insights into careers within the hospitality and tourism sectors. Renowned international speaker and Lemoneight Founder & CEO, Claudine Phol, will be the keynote speaker.
As a globally recognized tourism industry consultant and facilitator, Claudine Phol has delivered training and keynote presentations to over 12,000 people in English and Spanish across 68 countries. Her firm, Lemoneight, based in Atlantic Canada, stands as the first Institute of Training & Occupational Learning (ITOL) Accredited Training Center in the tourism industry.
The panel will feature local professionals, each bringing specialized expertise in different facets of the industry: Jordan Romney (Fisherman), Robert Swain (Mixologist), Whitney George (Cruise Attendant), D’Andra Lewis (Boat Captain), Gorvey Henry (Pastry Chef and Banquet Manager), Sharkel Penn (Food & Beverage Supervisor), Joseph Graham (Tour Company Owner), and Hakeem Gravesande (Filmmaker). Together, these panelists will discuss their career journeys and provide valuable advice for students interested in exploring hospitality and tourism professions.

Held during Culture & Tourism Month, the Tourism Education Symposium aims to motivate and educate students on their potential impact in the BVI tourism industry, encouraging them to pursue careers that enhance the guest experience in the Territory.
