Hong Kong Airlines now offers daily direct flights to Chiang Mai, Thailand, opening up exciting travel options to explore Northern Thailand’s culture and festivities.
Hong Kong Airlines has officially launched its new daily direct route to Chiang Mai, Thailand, expanding travel options for those eager to explore Northern Thailand’s popular attractions. The timing aligns with Thailand’s Loy Krathong Festival (Festival of Light) in November, giving travelers a unique opportunity to witness the vibrant parades and festivities firsthand.
This addition marks Chiang Mai as Hong Kong Airlines’ third Thai destination, complementing their existing services to Bangkok and Phuket, now with daily flights. A special inaugural celebration took place at Hong Kong International Airport, attended by Mr. Jeff Sun, President of Hong Kong Airlines; Mr. Chaturont CHAIYAKAM, Consul-General of Thailand in Hong Kong; Mrs. Phornmon Chansri, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand; and Mr. Ricky Chong, Assistant General Manager of Hub Development at Airport Authority Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Airlines President Mr. Jeff Sun shared his enthusiasm: “Thailand continues to be one of our most sought-after destinations, and we’re excited to now offer daily flights to Chiang Mai alongside our five daily flights to Bangkok and one to Phuket, all of which are seeing strong demand. With our recent route expansions to Laos and Da Nang, this network growth strengthens our presence in Southeast Asia, supporting Hong Kong Airlines’ dedication to enhancing connectivity along the Belt and Road Initiative, fostering trade, and encouraging cultural and economic exchange.”
Upon arrival, the flight received a traditional water cannon salute at Chiang Mai International Airport.
