AIRE launches its Aviation Policy Program

Airlines International Representation in Europe (AIRE) is pleased to announce the launch of its Aviation Policy Program, a forward-looking document that outlines the key priorities and objectives for the aviation industry as we enter a new legislative period.

The program was officially unveiled at our event ´Aviation Strategy for a Stronger Europe´on October 1st, where industry leaders and stakeholders gathered to discuss the path ahead for aviation.

AIRE Aviation Policy Program is designed to address the most pressing challenges facing the industry today, ensuring that we continue to evolve in a way that is both responsible and sustainable. This initiative focuses on six critical areas that will guide our efforts in shaping the future of aviation:

  1. Sustainability – By working closely with policymakers and stakeholders, AIRE aims to contribute to fair and practical solutions that support the aviation industry’s transition to a more sustainable future without imposing undue burdens.
  2. Passenger Rights – Protecting passenger rights remains a top priority. The amendment of the Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 is of utmost relevance not only to allow struggling airlines to recover from the consequences of COVID 19, but also to install much needed legal clarity. That is why it should be a matter of priority in the legislative agenda of the European Union.
  3.  Competitiveness – Civil aviation is vital for the economy and tourism, but restrictive regulations could jeopardize the sector and EU economic stability. AIRE is committed to actively participating in public dialogue to create effective measures that boost the competitiveness of the EU aviation sector.
  4. Airport Infrastructure – Promoting open access to key airport services, like ground handling and fuel supply, is crucial for enhancing efficiency. By allowing multiple service providers and ensuring fair access, airlines may choose cost-effective, high-quality services that meet their specific needs.
  5. Green Finance & Taxation – Sustainable aviation requires investment. AIRE considers it vital to direct investment toward sustainable projects and activities. Equally important is adapting the criteria required by taxonomy rules to the current developments in aviation technology.
  6. Social Responsibility – The aviation sector has a vital role in promoting social responsibility. Our program outlines the importance of implementing gender-responsive work organization measures and policies, as well as to address the problems caused by unruly passengers.

At AIRE, we are committed to driving meaningful change across the aviation sector. Our Policy Program sets the foundation for addressing the challenges of today while preparing the industry for a prosperous and sustainable future.

We invite all industry stakeholders to engage with this important work and collaborate with us in building a stronger, more sustainable aviation sector.
