PARIS-The Warwick International Hotels Group (WIH)
has formed a joint venture with Recreation Africa Group (RAG) to expand its
network of hotels throughout sub-Saharan Africa
through management contracts under the WIH brand.
The JV company, named Warwick
International Hotels Africa Limited, will be based in Johannesburg , South Africa .
Don Elliot will serve as the company's CEO. Born in Kenya ,
Elliot has worked for nearly 30 years within the Starwood group and has held
unit and regional, operational and financial senior management positions in the
U.S. , Australia , the Middle East, India and Africa .
He is also a member of the Federation Hospitality Association of South Africa
board.
Warwick International Hotels already
has five affiliated hotels in Africa: the Alhambra Thalasso Hotel in Yasmine
Hammamet, Tunisia; Hivernage Hotel & Spa in Marrakech, Morocco; Hotel
Jardin Savana Dakar, Senegal; Misty Hills Country Hotel Conference Centre &
Spa, Johannesburg and Kedar Country Hotel Conference Centre & Spa in
Rustenburg, which are both in South Africa and owned by RAG.
Warwick International Hotels
currently consists of 55 hotels and resorts on 5 continents, including the Warwick New York
& the Warwick Champs-Elysees.
