MUNICH, GERMANY – Hilton has signed an agreement for Tempo by Hilton Munich Airport Arena, a 199-room hotel scheduled to open in 2029. The property will be located on the Munich Arena campus, alongside the planned live entertainment venue.
The signing marks the German debut of Hilton’s Tempo lifestyle brand. The brand has 86 properties trading or in its development pipeline, including European signings in Belfast City Centre, Lisbon Parque das Nações and Reykjavik.
Thorsten Faasch, Managing Director of development for DACH at Hilton, said, “Germany has been a key market for Hilton for more than 50 years, and we’re thrilled to bring Tempo by Hilton to the country for the first time. As part of our expanding lifestyle portfolio, Tempo delivers a stylish, contemporary experience designed for active travellers, with purposefully designed rooms and wellness focused amenities. Strategically located at one of Europe’s busiest transport hubs and next to the new concert arena, the hotel offers exceptional convenience for travellers.”The hotel forms part of the Munich Arena live entertainment campus, which is a major concert destination. Its location wants to connect accommodation with live events and Munich’s international transport links.
Rooms, wellness facilities and dining
Tempo by Hilton Munich Airport Arena will feature rooms designed to support guests as they prepare, recharge and connect. Each room will include a dedicated “Get Ready Zone” with a well-lit vanity mirror, custom desk and open wardrobe.
The hotel’s gym will include cardio equipment, a weights section and a recovery area. These facilities will form part of the brand’s “Power Up” experience. Food and beverage facilities will include a ground-floor café offering a range of options for guests throughout the day. A rooftop bar will serve craft cocktails and small plates in a relaxed setting.
Lorenz Schmid, Managing Partner of Munich Arena, said, “For us, everything begins with the music. We have been developing Munich Arena for the best possible live entertainment experience from the very first sketch, and every decision is measured against one question: what does world-class live entertainment need? A hotel on the campus is part of that answer. After the last song, the evening continues on site. Fans, artists and crews stay where the music happens. We are delighted that Tempo by Hilton is coming to the Munich Arena campus, and we look forward to the moment the first concert begins.”
Management agreement and Munich Airport demand
The hotel will run under a management agreement with Allresto Munich Airport Hotel and Restaurants GmbH, a subsidiary of Munich Airport. Allresto has leased the property from SWMUNICH Accommodation GmbH, part of the Munich Arena group.
Andreas Reichert, Managing Director of Allresto Munich Airport Hotel and Restaurants GmbH, said, “We are excited to be once again collaborating with Hilton, particularly as this marks a first for the Tempo by Hilton brand in Germany. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with Hilton and, with this new hotel, contributing to the further growth of the area surrounding the Munich Arena.”
Munich Airport handled more than 43 million passengers in 2025, according to the announcement. It is one of Germany’s busiest international airports and serves domestic and international routes. Munich also has an established international business and cultural profile. The city is home to seven DAX-listed corporations and attracts visitors through its cultural activities and business connections.
Guests at the new hotel will be able to access Hilton Honors, Hilton’s loyalty programme covering its 28 brands. Members booking directly through eligible Hilton channels can access benefits. These include a member discount, standard Wi-Fi and flexible payment using a combination of Points and money. The Hilton Honors mobile app also offers digital services, including check-in, room selection and Digital Key access, subject to availability and applicable conditions.
