New rules for rental homes. Take the survey now

Less than a quarter of NSW rental homes have insulation.

Making homes more energy efficient is not just about bills. It's about staying cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and healthier all year round.

The NSW Government is asking for community feedback on proposed minimum energy efficiency standards for rental homes.

If introduced, rental homes would need to meet mandatory energy-related requirements. This may include ceiling insulation, window coverings, efficient appliances and hot water systems or reverse-cycle air conditioners.

Property owners, renters and tradespeople are all encouraged to provide feedback on the consultation paper.

Your feedback will help shape new standards that work for both renters and owners.

Find out more and have your say by 31 May.

Your say on our operational plan and resourcing strategy

We invite your feedback on our draft integrated planning and reporting documents for 2026/27.

These documents help us meet your aspirations for Sydney’s future and support key directions, targets and major objectives in the community strategic plan, which was updated in 2025.

Our draft operational plan 2026/27 outlines our projects and programs for the next 12 months, including the annual budget and proposed revenue policy for rates and fees and charges.

The draft resourcing strategy (2026) identifies how we’ll use our resources and work with our communities to achieve their vision.

View the documents and provide feedback by Monday 15 June.
