easyJet reports record bookings for May half-term escapes

easyJet is set to operate its busiest-ever May half-term, with thousands of holidaymakers expected to travel on 16,400 flights across Europe and North Africa during the week-long school break. In the UK alone, the airline will operate over 9,400 flights.

Over the first half-term weekend, more than half a million holidaymakers are expected on over 3,100 easyJet flights, taking advantage of sunshine getaways and spring city escapes.

Spain remains the most popular destination, with Palma, Alicante, and Malaga among top choices, while Seville bookings are up 25% compared to last year. Greek islands are also popular, with Rhodes topping the list and 61 routes across 24 destinations available this summer.

North African destinations including Enfidha in Tunisia and Marrakech in Morocco are increasingly popular, with bookings up 15% year-on-year.

Emerging city-break destinations such as Tbilisi, Georgia, and Ljubljana, Slovenia, are attracting UK travellers seeking cultural experiences, scenic architecture, and value short-haul escapes. Traditional city breaks like Milan, Nice, Barcelona, Paris, and Amsterdam remain strong favourites.

For easyJet holidays, beach breaks dominate, with Majorca most booked, followed by Alicante, Tenerife, and growing interest in Rhodes, up 19% from last May half-term.

All packages include flights and hotel, 23kg luggage, and airport transfers on beach holidays. The recently introduced Book with Confidence Promise ensures flight and package prices remain fixed after booking, while easyJet operates a full network schedule despite competitors cutting routes.

Kevin Doyle, UK Country Manager, stated: “We’re looking forward to taking millions of customers away this half-term for a well-deserved break and the chance to enjoy quality time together. Whether it’s to one of Europe’s best beaches, a cultural city break or chasing the sun further afield, we still have fantastic great-value flights and package holidays available to book.

“And holidaymakers can also book with confidence this summer as we are operating as normal, not making cancellations and our Booking with Confidence Promise guarantees that the cost of flights and package holidays will stay fixed after booking and we will not add fuel surcharges, protecting customers from increased fuel cost.
