LOT Polish Airlines launches a new connection to Bologna

  • On 31 March 2026, LOT Polish Airlines launched a new route connecting Warsaw with Bologna.
  • Flights between those two cities will be offered 6 times per week – both in the summer and winter seasons.
  • Bologna is the fourth Italian destination in the Polish national carrier’s flight network.
LOT Polish Airlines is expanding its route network, focusing on destinations that are increasingly favoured by travellers. In response to Italy’s popularity among Polish passengers, the national carrier launched, on 31 March 2026, flights to Bologna – the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region. Departures from Warsaw Chopin Airport are scheduled six times per week – every day except Saturdays. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays they will be taking off at 8:35 a.m. (LO327), while on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays – at 3:15 p.m. (LO329). Return flights will be departing at 11:45 a.m. (LO328), on Tuesdays and Sundays at 6:25 p.m., and at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays (LO330). Passengers will spend 2 hours and 10 minutes on the national carrier’s welcoming decks.

When analysing our passengers’ preferences, we notice that they seek not only convenient and direct connections, but also experiences that allow them to explore the country’s culture and history. Bologna, with its unique architecture, rich academic heritage, and the culinary traditions of the Emilia-Romagna region, perfectly meets these expectations. By launching our fourth connection between Warsaw and Italy (after Milan, Rome, and Venice), we are offering Polish passengers the opportunity to discover another interesting region of the country. I have no doubt that the new route will allow our passengers to fully indulge in the best Italy has to offer. I warmly invite everyone to travel with us aboard our planes.

The Polish tourism market is currently demonstrating its enormous potential, as confirmed by statistical data. In 2025, the number of tourists from Poland visiting Emilia-Romagna increased by over 20%, and Poland now ranks among the leading foreign markets in terms of growth dynamics as well as the number of tourists and overnight stays. In the coming years, these figures are expected to continue rising, also thanks to new connections planned for 2026 between our airports and Poland. Increased interest in holidays in Emilia-Romagna and along its Riviera will also be supported by promotion in major Polish media outlets, whose representatives will visit the region as part of a study tour organized by the Regional Promotion Agency APT Servizi in cooperation with local authorities.

Bologna – a gateway to history and truly unforgettable experiences

Besides the bustling conversations and Italian temperament, Bologna resonates – first and foremost – with history. Traces of ancient art, culture, and architecture, having long become a permanent fixture in Bologna’s everyday life, can be experienced virtually every step of the way. Piazza Maggiore, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, is the very heart of the city. It houses Basilica of San Petronio with its distinctive unfinished façade, Palazzo d'Accursio (currently serving as the town hall), and Palazzo del Podestà – a Renaissance palace whose unique vaulted ceiling, with its extraordinary acoustic characteristics, allows curious visitors to hear the whispers of those standing on the other side of the structure.

One of the city’s most important symbols – the Fountain of Neptune – is also located close by. Interestingly, it was this very fountain that served as an inspiration for the logo of one of the most luxurious car brands in the world. So, it is not surprising that the Motor Valley – a place located near Bologna and created for all car enthusiasts – is the pride and joy of the entire region. Here, one may visit factories and museums of the leading automotive brands, while adrenaline junkies flock to the area for such events as the Motor Valley Fest.

The launch of the new Bologna-Warsaw flight with LOT Polish Airlines is particularly important for our region and catchment area. Not only does it strengthen connections between our region and the Polish capital, but it also allows our passengers to access the Polish national airline's entire network, with over 120 destinations in Europe, Asia, and North America. LOT is a brand new airline for Bologna Airport, adding to the already extensive portfolio of airlines operating at Marconi. Furthermore, the new flight will further boost incoming traffic to our region from a particularly dynamic, rapidly developing area of Europe that has historically enjoyed strong link with Bologna and the entire region.

History written by architecture

When speaking of Bologna, one must not fail to mention its porticoes – a feature that was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021. The length of the impressive arcades equals 62 km – with 42 km located within the old town. The structures captivate with their grandeur, architectural form, and historical significance. In June of each year, the city’s residents – proud of their local heritage – organise the Bologna Portici Festival, featuring a wide variety of events, including site-specific spectacles, concerts, dance shows, and theatre performances – all taking place under the cover of these unique arches.

Where cinema and music flourish

Bologna has been a holder of the UNESCO City of Music title since 2006. Its musical venues include Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, and Auditorium Manzoni. Where there’s music, cinema must be present as well. At the end of 2023, Cineteca di Bologna opened, in Palazzo Ronzani, the “Cinema Modernissimo” – an underground theatre dating back to 1915. Unlike multiplex cinemas, it offers exquisite, carefully restored Art Nouveau splendour, with its technical infrastructure meeting contemporary standards.
The aforementioned Piazza Maggiore, in turn, transforms into an open-air cinema every summer during the Cinema Ritrovato and Sotto le Stelle del Cinema festivals. Spectators may enjoy legendary movie hits on one of the largest screens in Europe – all in the company of famous movie world celebrities.
Tickets for flights from Warsaw to Bologna are available via all of LOT’s sales channels, including the lot.com website, LOT Contact Center and LOT Travel offices.
