Today, Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey is reopening to the public for its 2026 season, and we need your help to make sure the company can’t ignore our campaign to free Joyce and the other elephants who are currently in captivity at the park.
For those new to the campaign, we are calling for Six Flags to release Joyce and the other four elephants living in captivity at the amusement park. Joyce lives in a small, barren enclosure mere steps from rumbling roller coasters. Having spent years performing in circuses and roadside zoos, this is far from the quiet life she deserves. We are urging Six Flags to release the elephants to a sanctuary where they can live the rest of their lives in peace.
To help Joyce, we have three important actions for you to take to put pressure on Six Flags’s leadership and park staff.
Comment on one of Six Flags’s most recent Instagram posts with our campaign messaging. Samples below:
- Release Joyce to sanctuary! Elephants don’t belong in captivity!
- I am NOT supporting or going to Six Flags until it stops making money off captive elephants.
- It’s 2026. Why are you still keeping elephants in captivity, Six Flags?
Message Six Flags directly. You can use the sample messaging above or create your own.

Thank you for advocating for Joyce.
