Visit Herefordshire launches free hiking and touring app

Visit Herefordshire
has launched a new, free-to-download app designed to enhance how visitors and local residents explore the county, bringing together walking, cycling and touring routes within a single digital platform.

The Visit Herefordshire App integrates curated routes, visitor attractions, points of interest and local businesses into a mobile-friendly interface powered by advanced mapping technology from Outdooractive. The app provides navigation functionality both online and offline.

Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the platform currently features more than 60 curated routes. Users can follow mapped trails, identify nearby places to eat and stay, and access contextual content highlighting Herefordshire’s landscapes and heritage.

The app includes routes suited to a wide range of interests and abilities. Family-friendly options include the Weobley Trail loop, with opportunities to stop at the village skate park and cafés. Cycling routes such as the Croft Wood & Wigmore Rolls gravel ride cover nearly 19 miles through forest tracks and country lanes.

Walkers can access the Roast & Rambles series, comprising 15 circular pub walks, including the recently added winter route, The Lugg Valley Loop. Long-distance trails, including Offa’s Dyke, the Herefordshire Trail, the Golden Valley Pilgrim Way, the Three Choirs Way, the Mortimer Trail and the Wye Valley Walk, are segmented into daily stages with elevation profiles and difficulty ratings.

Additional routes include the Cider Circuits, which highlight the county’s cider-making heritage, and the 106-mile Watkins Way touring route, inspired by Alfred Watkins’ exploration of ley lines.

The app also integrates routes published on the broader Outdooractive platform by organisations including the Malvern Hills National Landscape, the National Trust and White Heron Estate, consolidating multiple sources into a unified digital resource.

Developed in partnership with Outdooractive, a global platform for outdoor activities with over 60 million active users, the app enables efficient content management, business integration and expanded digital visibility. Content is shared across Outdooractive.com and the Outdooractive app, extending Herefordshire’s international reach.

The Visit Herefordshire App is available for free download on iOS and Android devices.
