This year’s winners stood out for initiatives that strengthened regional engagement and enhanced participant experiences. Examples included community-led tours, a collaboration with local businesses to develop vegan menus, a coordinated set of venue-area welcome displays, a study tour to a remote island and a networking program with local researchers and start-ups. Many conferences also fostered engagement with the younger generation through, for example, tours for students , a university-led visit to a technology site, and youth poster sessions.

About the Awards
JNTO established the Awards in 2008 to raise awareness of the importance to Japan of bidding for and hosting international conferences. The Japanese government places a high strategic priority on holding such conferences in Japan. The Awards highlight best practices by recognizing outstanding examples of bidding for and hosting international conferences.
