EU Parliament committee to vote on updated air passenger rights

Members of the European Parliament serving on the Transport and Tourism Committee are scheduled to vote on Monday 12 January on proposed updates to the EU air passenger rights framework.

The vote concerns a revision of the passenger rights rules that have been in force since 2004. The objective of the proposed update is to ensure that air passengers remain adequately protected in cases of travel disruption, including denied boarding, flight delays, and flight cancellations.

The committee vote is intended to confirm a draft response by the European Parliament to the position adopted by the Council in September 2025 on air passenger rights.

The outcome of the vote will form part of the ongoing legislative process to revise the existing regulatory framework governing passenger protection in the European Union.
