JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort appoints Brittany Matthews as Director of Sales and Marketing

JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort has appointed Brittany Matthews as its new Director of Sales & Marketing, strengthening the resort’s commercial leadership with more than 24 years of experience within Marriott International’s portfolio.

Matthews has built her career driving revenue growth and performance across multiple segments and markets. She has overseen commercial performance for 73 Select Brand hotels in the Southeast United States, managing a portfolio exceeding $600 million in revenues. Her responsibilities have spanned suburban and urban markets and covered Marriott’s Select, Premium, and Convention/Resort segments, shaping what the resort describes as an “enterprise mindset” and agile sales leadership style.

Her experience also includes leading sales for the dual-branded JW Marriott and Tampa Marriott Water Street complex, where she helped steer the property through a major renovation and rebranding, and oversaw the launch of JW Marriott Tampa Water Street in December 2020.

Reflecting on her new role, Matthews said: “While the allure of a beachfront resort is undeniable, what truly drew me to JW Marriott Marco Island is the opportunity to be part of a legacy. This marks my third JW Marriott-branded property, and with that comes a deep appreciation for this namesake brand and our elevated standards. JW Marco Island isn’t just a destination – it’s a place where excellence is woven into every detail, and I’m honored to contribute to that tradition.”

Matthews holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree from Central Michigan University, with majors in Hospitality & Facilities Management and Marketing. She has also completed certifications in Strategic Hospitality Marketing from Cornell University, supporting her focus on data-driven commercial strategy and long-term positioning.

“At this stage in my career, I’m focused on leveraging my experience to drive meaningful revenue growth and strengthen market position for a flagship property like the JW Marriott Marco Island,” she noted. “I look forward to contributing my skills in strategic sales leadership to enhance the resort’s success while supporting the talented team already in place.”

Her leadership philosophy connects commercial outcomes with the wider hotel community. “Driving topline revenue isn’t just a business goal, it’s a responsibility and a privilege. Our work directly impacts the livelihoods of our associates, supporting stable careers and families. That connection between performance and people motivates me and shapes my approach every day,” she added.

In her new role, Matthews plans to deepen JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort’s engagement with the local community, working with civic leaders and hospitality partners across Marco Island and the surrounding area. She aims to foster collaborations that enhance guest experiences while supporting regional economic vitality and opportunity.
