9th Asia-Oceanian Conference of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOCPRM 2025)

 

21–23 August 2025 | Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Penang, Malaysia Hosted by the Malaysian Association of Rehabilitation Physicians (MARP) Under the auspices of the Asia-Oceanian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOSPRM)

The Asia-Oceanian Conference of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOCPRM) will return in August 2025, bringing together global leaders, specialists, and professionals in the field of rehabilitation medicine. Penang, Malaysia will host this prestigious event from 21 to 23 August 2025 at the renowned Setia SPICE Convention Centre, offering a unique blend of academic excellence, professional networking, and cultural experience.

With the theme “Rehabilitation for a Sustainable Future: Bridging Innovation, Inclusion, and Impact,” the conference is expected to welcome over 1,000 -1200 delegates from more than 20 countries, providing an international platform to exchange knowledge, explore breakthroughs in rehabilitation science, and discuss future directions in practice, research, and policy.

Robust Scientific Program

 AOCPRM 2025 offers a dynamic, multidisciplinary program designed to engage and inspire. The scientific sessions will cover cutting-edge topics, best practices, and innovations in physical and rehabilitation medicine. Highlights of the program include:

 1 Keynote Lecture by a world-renowned leader in rehabilitation

• 8 Plenary Lectures addressing major challenges and emerging trends in global rehabilitation

• 28 Thematic Symposia, featuring experts in neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal pain, spinal cord injury, pediatric rehabilitation, robotics and assistive tech, aging, and health systems

• 1 Mandarin Symposium — a historic first for AOCPRM — providing a dedicated platform for Mandarin-speaking delegates to engage in scientific exchange

• 10 Pre-Conference Workshops (scheduled on 20 August 2025), offering hands-on clinical training in areas such as musculoskeletal ultrasound, spasticity management, functional assessment, and interdisciplinary rehabilitation care.

Cultural Experience and Wellness Activities Complementing the scientific program, AOCPRM 2025 includes thoughtfully curated cultural and wellness activities to enhance delegate experience and promote work-life balance: 

• Morning Tai Chi sessions, led by a delegate from China, and Gentle Stretch & Breathing sessions, guided by a local physiotherapist, will be held on the SPICE Convention Centre rooftop garden, promoting mindfulness, body awareness, and physical balance in line with holistic health practices. 

• A symbolic Tree Planting Ceremony will take place as a commitment to sustainability and community unity • A grand Cultural Gala Dinner at the historic Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel, featuring Malaysian cuisine, performances, and networking in an elegant heritage setting Additionally, registered delegates will have the opportunity to join optional sightseeing tours, including: 

• Penang Heritage Tour – exploring George Town’s UNESCO sites, street art, and Peranakan culture • Penang Hill and The Habitat – enjoying panoramic views, nature walks, and the historic funicular train • Sunset Cruise – a scenic evening on the water with views of Penang’s coastline • Durian Experience Tour – a seasonal highlight for visitors to sample Malaysia’s iconic fruit in a local orchard setting.
