This initiative builds on Visit Greater Palm Springs’ designation as a Certified Autism Destination, supporting the region’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity. By helping more businesses achieve CAC certification, the grant expands the number of hotels, attractions, and venues that can confidently welcome travelers on the autism spectrum and their families.

More than 30 organizations across Greater Palm Springs have already earned the CAC designation, with over 3,000 staff members trained to better serve individuals with autism. With the support of this grant, even more businesses can join the program and help ensure the destination remains at the forefront of inclusive travel.

Training and Certification Process
To achieve CAC designation, businesses will:
- Meet with IBCCES and complete payment.
- Provide staff training through IBCCES’s self-paced online modules (30 minutes for front-facing staff; 2.5 hours for managers).
- Achieve certification once 80% of staff complete training.
- Receive promotional support from IBCCES and Visit Greater Palm Springs.
- Become eligible for a $2,500 reimbursement from the Tourism Foundation.
The Greater Palm Springs Tourism Foundation encourages eligible Coachella Valley hospitality businesses to apply for the Autism Certification Grant and join the growing network of Certified Autism Centers. By participating, local businesses not only improve staff training and guest experiences but also help build a destination that is safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all.
