Cirium – May On-Time Performance Report

 


May's operational landscape proved challenging. Global flight cancellations surged 31%, with the Asia-Pacific region accounting for over half (53%) of the total. North America also faced significant disruption, contributing nearly a quarter (23%) of cancellations, largely attributed to severe weather conditions during the Memorial Day travel season.

Here's a snapshot of May's top performers across all categories:
Global Airline: SAS maintained its position as the global leader with an OTP of 89.72%.
North America: Air Canada led the region for the first time with an OTP of 79.06%. WestJet, it’s Canadian counterpart also maintained its position in the top 5.
Asia-Pacific: Virgin Australia emerged as the new regional leader. With an improvement of nearly 10 points, Thai AirAsia secured a position in the top 5.
Europe: SAS continued its dominance by securing the top spot in the region. Turkish Airlines, British Airways and other large carriers in the region also made the top rankings.
Latin America: For the third consecutive time this year, Copa Airlines has led the region with an OTP of 93.49%.
Middle East & Africa: Safair is back on top with an OTP of 95.22%. Airlink joined the top 5 rankings.
Large Airports Category: Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) is the new category leader. Honolulu International Airport entered the top 5 rankings with an OTP of 89.29%.
Medium Airports Category: Tocumen International Airport (PTY) remains the undisputed category leader with an OTP of 94.86%. Johannesburg O.R. Tambo (JNB) and Dammam King Fahd entered the top 5 rankings after improving their OTP scores.
Small Airports Category: Ellison Onizuka Kona Intl Airport (KOA) is the new category leader with an OTP of 92.98%.
