2025 Lodging Econometric/[CLIC] Hotel Development Deals of the Year Award winners announced

LONG BEACH, CALI. – Officials of the California Lodging Investment Conference [CLIC], the only hospitality conference focused on the California hotel market, announced the winners of the Lodging Econometrics/[CLIC] 2025 Hotel Developments of the Year Award. The 73-room Red Roof Inn – Hometown Studios by Red Roof Ridgecrest won the select-service/extended-stay category, and The 50-room Fairmont Breakers Long Beach won the luxury hotel division. CLIC founder and president Craig Sullivan and Lodging Econometrics’ Senior Vice President/Director of Global Business Development Bruce Ford will present the awards during the opening welcome session of the annual conference, which will be held on March 5th and 6th at the Westin Long Beach.

For this project, the brand worked with an established franchisee to repurpose an aging asset to bring two, new hotel products online in a growing marketplace.

“The Red Roof and HomeTowne studios represent a welcomed reimagination of the property,” Ford said. “We often see these be very successful and a win/win for brand and ownership.”

Every inch of the nearly 100-year-old building was renovated/updated.  The building started as a hotel before converting to assisted living.  New owners saw unrealized value in the asset and its location, and they re-converted the property back to a hotel.

“The Fairmont Breakers Hotel has been returned to its former glory after leaving the industry some 40 years ago,” Ford added. “This is a one-of-a-kind development!”

The California Lodging Investment Conference is the nation’s only hospitality conference focused exclusively on the California hotel market. Now celebrating its 8th  year, the opening reception followed by a day-long event draws some of the industry’s largest and most well-known owners, operators, brands and hospitality-related experts in the world.
