Meliá Hotels International, Spain’s leading hotel group and the third-largest in Europe, is set to strengthen its global presence with ambitious plans for 2025.
The group will open 15 new luxury hotels, building on its strong performance in 2024, which saw luxury sales grow by 14% compared to 2023.
Notably, Virtuoso and Internova member agencies boosted production by 28%, underscoring the rising demand for Meliá’s premium offerings.
Expanding Luxury in Europe, the Americas, and Asia
Meliá is focusing on expanding its prestigious ME by Meliá brand, known for cutting-edge design and cultural programming.
In 2025, the brand will debut in iconic destinations such as Lisbon, Malta, Marbella, and Malaga, with notable additions including ME Malta, designed by Zaha Hadid, and ME Lisbon, featuring a panoramic Radio Rooftop Bar and over 6,500 square feet of event space.
ME by Meliá will also launch properties in Greece, Albania, and China while strengthening its presence in Mexico with ME Guadalajara and ME Sayulita, joining the successful ME Cabo.
This growth marks a significant milestone, as the group aims to double its presence in Mexico over the next two years.
Two new properties will join the Meliá Collection in 2025: Residenza Cardinale in Milan and Va Bi Mountain near Hanoi, Vietnam, marking the brand’s debut in Asia.
ZEL’s Caribbean Expansion
ZEL, a lifestyle brand created in collaboration with tennis legend Rafael Nadal, continues its ambitious growth.
Following its debut in Mallorca in 2023 and expansion to Costa Brava in 2024, ZEL will open its first Caribbean property, ZEL Punta Cana, in December.
Situated along Playa Bávaro, this all-inclusive lifestyle resort combines Mediterranean charm with Caribbean allure. Featuring swim-up suites, vibrant dining experiences, and a beach club, ZEL Punta Cana sets a new standard for luxury in the Americas.
Paradisus by Meliá: A Focus on Wellness and Cultural Immersion
The Paradisus by Meliá brand will expand its Destination Inclusive concept globally, offering stress-free escapes with cultural immersion and wellness programming.
In 2025, Paradisus will launch in Pattaya, Thailand, marking its entry into the Asian market, and rebrand Meliá Fuerteventura in Spain.
Each property is designed to reflect its destination’s unique character while promoting well-being and sustainability.
Sustainability at the Core of Expansion
Meliá remains committed to sustainability, recognized as the most sustainable hotel company in Spain and Europe by S&P. Initiatives like the Travel for Good program integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its strategy.
From carbon neutrality to waste management, Meliá’s sustainability efforts are evident in projects such as Menorca’s Villa Le Blanc Gran Meliá, Spain’s first “Net Zero” luxury hotel.
Award-Winning Excellence and Global Recognition
Meliá’s dedication to innovation and service has garnered widespread recognition. Properties like Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora and Gran Meliá Iguazú received accolades at the World Travel Awards, while Gran Meliá de Mar in Mallorca was named Spain’s Best Resort by Condé Nast Traveller.
