Walt Disney Co will pay a record $233 million in settlement over underpaying Disneyland workers’ wages for several years.
It represents the largest ever settlement of wage theft in California.
A lawsuit was filed several years ago accusing the company of violating the city of Anaheim’s minimum wage law.
It affected over 50,000 former and current employees.
Disney, as a recipient of tax rebates from the city was required to pay at least $15 per hour.
The company adjusted wages last year but must pay about $105 million in backdated pay with interest from 2019.
Anaheim is set to increase the minimum wage to more than $20 in 2025
