ROOMS Batumi Unveils A Stunning 19th-Century Treasure With A Colossal Modern Flair In The Heart Of Batumi’s, Georgia Old Town

ROOMS Batumi blends tradition with bold modernity, revitalizing a 19th-century building in the heart of Old Town, offering unique, locally inspired hospitality and design.

ROOMS Batumi, part of the Design Hotels collection, masterfully bridges tradition with modernity, mirroring the essence of the historic Georgian port city it inhabits. Nestled within a whimsical yet serene renovation of a 19th-century building, the hotel blends seamlessly into Batumi’s Old Town, weaving the story of its location while inspiring future generations. The restored original façade opens to reveal a rooftop restaurant and pool, offering panoramic city and sea views, a peaceful courtyard, and an American-style diner serving locally sourced dishes.

Batumi, a jewel on the Black Sea, boasts a rich blend of multicultural influences and contemporary vibrancy. From its bustling port and modern glass towers to sandy beaches and ancient streets, the city captivates with its contrasts. Located in the heart of the Old Town, ROOMS Batumi reflects this unique character, much like its sister properties in Tbilisi and Kazbegi, blending history and innovation. This fusion of Batumi’s past with the scenic beauty of the seaside creates a perfect destination for travelers seeking both historical charm and stunning views.

Designed by Temur Ugulava and the team at Collective Development, alongside Rooms Studio, the hotel embraces the dual views of the busy port and the historic Old Town. The late-19th-century building’s original façade has been carefully restored, with vintage bricks now painted white and complemented by yellow awnings and blue shutters. Inside, a color palette of pale pink, white, yellow, and blue is paired with natural materials like plywood, stone, and upcycled textiles, all seamlessly integrated with the building’s original features.

Guests will find custom-made furniture by Rooms Studio and Collective Development throughout the hotel’s common areas and its 120 rooms and suites. Timeless pieces from Frama, innovative lighting by iGuzzini, and elegant electrical switches by Modelec add to the modern yet inviting atmosphere. The room selection caters to a wide range of preferences, from the budget-friendly Cabin Bunk rooms to the luxurious Corner Suites. All rooms feature balconies or terraces with views of the Old Town or the sea, while wood-paneled walls and ceilings, along with 1970s-inspired round beds in some rooms, add a bold and funky touch.

The hotel’s lobby showcases a striking boomerang-shaped bar, where signature cocktails are expertly crafted and served with light snacks at the Lounge Bar. Nearby, the Rubber Duck restaurant, designed in the style of an American diner, offers a farm-to-table menu by Chef Levan Buadze, featuring a fusion of Georgian and international flavors, made from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Upstairs, The Kitchen, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and bar, serves refined seafood and vegetarian dishes alongside a curated selection of Georgian and international wines. Diners can enjoy their meals with 360-degree views of Batumi’s historic district and port or relax by the rooftop pool.

For those looking to escape the city’s hustle and bustle, the hotel’s inner courtyard provides a tranquil retreat. Guests can lounge among palm trees and sea grass, while wood-framed stained-glass windows bathe the space in soft natural light. The Shop at ROOMS Batumi emphasizes sustainability, offering handcrafted items made from upcycled, organic, and natural materials, including belts, garments, straw bags, and toys produced in an onsite atelier.

With its playful yet peaceful design, rich culinary offerings, and commitment to sustainability, ROOMS Batumi is a vibrant community where tradition, modernity, and diverse influences converge, offering guests an inspiring and relaxing experience.
