South Australia is solidifying its position as a premier cruise destination in Australia, attracting a record number of industry leaders to the Australian Cruise Association (ACA) Annual Conference.

The conference, held from September 4-6, showcased the state’s unique offerings and commitment to growing the cruise sector.

With over 150 attendees, the event was a testament to South Australia’s appeal as a must-visit destination for both cruise passengers and industry professionals.

Key highlights of the conference include:

Record-breaking attendance: The conference attracted the largest number of attendees in its history, reflecting the growing interest in South Australia as a cruise destination.

Industry leaders convene: Key decision-makers from the cruise industry gathered in Adelaide to discuss the future of the sector and explore opportunities for growth.

Showcase of South Australian attractions: Pre-conference tours highlighted the state’s diverse offerings, including the Port Adelaide Passenger Terminal, Adelaide Hills, and Adelaide Oval.

Economic impact: South Australia’s cruise sector has experienced a significant rebound, injecting a record $215 million into the state’s economy in the 2022-23 season.

Growing cruise lines and ships: The state government is actively working to attract more international cruise lines and luxury ships to South Australian shores.

Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison, expressed her enthusiasm for showcasing South Australia to the cruise industry.

“We are committed to ensuring our state remains a competitive and appealing destination for cruise passengers and industry professionals,” she said.

Australian Cruise Association CEO, Jill Abel, emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving the industry forward.

“Together, we can continue to advance cruise as a sustainable and vital pillar of Australia’s visitor economy,” she stated.

As South Australia continues to lead the way in the Australian cruise industry, its commitment to attracting high-yield visitors and expanding its cruise offerings positions it as a prime destination for both domestic and international travelers.
