IntercityHotel Duisburg opens its doors

Germany’s western city of Duisburg welcomes a new hotel; the new-build IntercityHotel Duisburg, the hotel is officially opened for business on 1 May. Extending over six floors, it is an upper mid-range hotel which houses a total of 176 rooms.
The hotel’s gastronomic offerings comprise a restaurant and a bar. The events rooms at the IntercityHotel Duisburg are able to accommodate up to 200 conference guests. Interior design is by the Italian architect Matteo Thun, who has produced an interior which enables the brand to achieve a modern and stylish look as it celebrates the 30th year of its existence.
Joachim Marusczyk, Managing Director of IntercityHotel GmbH, said, “As well as being an interesting prospect for visitors to Duisburg, this IntercityHotel provides swift access to trade fairs in Essen and Düsseldorf and to Düsseldorf Airport itself thanks to its location right next to the city’s railway station."
The hotel will be operated by IntercityHotel GmbH under a lease agreement. Property development was by the Hamburg-based B&L Group. The architectural firms of Reichel + Stauth from Braunschweig and php prasch buken und partner from Hamburg were responsible for the design of the hotel. The general contractor is W. Markgraf GmbH & Co KG of Bayreuth.
