Lithuania launches Likeable Lithuania Social Media campaign .

Lithuania has launched a new Social Media campaign which encourages people to share with the world what they like most about the beautiful Baltic country. Likeable Lithuania invites people to get involved in the campaign by creating and sharing content with their friends and spreading the word about the Lithuania which they like or love. The campaign, which has been created by the Lithuanian State Department of Tourism, will incorporate Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Youtube, and aims to collect one million LIKE’s and build a new tourist attraction in Lithuania - the world's largest "LIKE" sculpture.

Every day there will be announcements about local attractions, facts and unexpected discoveries – things that you can like in Lithuania. In addition, everyone involved in the campaign, will become a shareholder of the world's "LIKE" sculpture and will be awarded a certificate.

Four Lithuanian cities – Vilnius, Kaunas, Palanga and Druskininkai - are participating in ‘Most Likeable City’ contest. The city which will get the most like will have the great honour of hosting the “LIKE” sculpture.

Everyone can support their favourite city ie: share photos, leave a review about the city, as well as invite friends to vote for one of the cities when they visit http://likeablelithuania.com/most-likeable-city/. Each performed action (photos upload, feedback, etc.) gives one point to that city, and in mid-December, when the contest is over, the city that will collect the most points will be announced as a most likeable city in Lithuania and will become the new home of the "LIKE" sculpture.

The sculpture design and material will be chosen to fit in with the winning city and should be completed by. June 2014.

The aim of Likeable Lithuania is to promote the very best of Lithuania, which it describes as the land of many likeable places and faces. The country is awash with likeable places, such as Trakai Island Castle, the Gediminas' Tower in Vilnius, the Tiskeviciai Palace in Palanga and the Curonian Lagoon. Lithuania also has some of the most beautiful countryside in Europe, with around 6,000 lakes and a World Heritage Site on the Curonian Spit. Wherever you are in Lithuania, you aren’t far from something beautiful.
