Island Hospitality Debuts $5M Reno, Reflag in DC

WASHINGTON—Island Hospitality Management, LLC, completed a $5-million renovation and conversion of the Washington Inn Guest Suites to the Residence Inn by Marriott Washington DC/Foggy Bottom.

The property is owned by hotel REIT Chatham Lodging Trust.
“This hotel has the enviable position of being located in a quaint, historic neighborhood and is the only branded, extended-stay hotel within easy walking distance to the World Bank, four embassies, the Kennedy Center and the State Department,” stated Tim Walker, president/CEO of Island.

The renovation of the 103-suite, pet-friendly hotel included an expanded lobby to accommodate the Residence Inn’s complimentary breakfast, evening social hours and mid-week dinners and an enlarged fitness center. The 700-sq.- ft. guest suites were completely renovated to include granite bathrooms, full kitchens, furnishings and soft goods.

Jeff Waldt, SVP/Sales and Marketing for Island Hospitality, stated, "We thoroughly researched the marketplace and are confident that the flag change to the Residence Inn by Marriott brand, combined with the multimillion-dollar renovation that upgraded virtually every aspect of the hotel, best meets the needs and demands of today’s business and leisure travelers.”
