Chinese start-up indicates international ambitions

Chinese start up airline Zhejiang Loong Airlines plans to start flying on domestic routes later this year after it signed a MoU with Airbus for 20 A320 aircraft.
The Airbus order is made up of 11 A320ceo and nine A320neo aircraft. The airline, which is based in Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province in Eastern China, recently received approval by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for passenger flight operations.

The airline’s passenger operations will initially operate from Hangzhou to Tier 1 cities including Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenzhen and Xi’an.  It has ambitions to expand regionally and internationally in three to five years.

Chairman of Zhejiang Loong Airlines Liu Qihong, confirmed the airline’s international ambitions. “I believe the Airbus A320 aircraft will help us to achieve the goal of building intensive domestic and international networks around Hangzhou,” he said.


Fabrice Bregier, Airbus president and CEO added: “Based in Eastern China, where the economy is growing fast and strong, Zhejiang Loong Airlines will have with their efficient A320 Family aircraft an excellent basis for a prosperous future and surely will contribute to boost the economic development of this area further."
