Nexus Collections has seen significant growth in sales of sustainable bespoke products with organisers focusing on minimum waste and environmental impact.

“In a world where organisers are looking to minimise waste yet achieve a long term legacy on their event, they often struggle to find balance.  Events by their very nature can deliver positive change for so many people and organisations.  However, to achieve that they need to be financially viable and sponsorship of conference bags and associated products very often underpins events.” comments Nexus Collections’ Managing Director, Howard Lawton
As part of ongoing research and product development, Nexus is growing its range of products.  These include:
  • The potential for biodegradable bags that compost down after an event.  These take their already sustainable bags made from materials such as Jute, non-woven, PET (recycled plastics) and flax (linen) to the next level.
  • More stylish and practical bags, likely to be used by delegates after the event on a day to day basis
  • Products focused on the elimination of disposable plastics – such as water bottles and coffee cups / mugs

Nexus Collections has seen a move towards more bespoke products, designed to meet the stringent environmental and low waste needs of organisers and delegates.  One significant advantage of this is that each time a client request something new, Nexus are able to review the idea and potentially add it to their “stock bags’.  This has resulted in the last seven additions to the range being sustainable.
Other elements of the process developed by Nexus to ensure sustainability are shipping methods designed to reduce waste as well as the ability to adjust order sizes right up to the last days before an event takes place – further reducing waste.
Lawton continues:  “Sustainability isn’t just about the environment it is also about the sustainability of an event that delivers jobs, research and results that benefit many.  Through in-depth research we have evolved our range to include products that are sustainable in a variety of different way – whether that be through composting, recycling or at the other end of the scale - reusability.  The result is an upswing in bespoke products created specifically for individual events rather than off-the-shelf options.  There are many ways to make an event sustainable, the most important though is long term thinking by the organiser to ensure it takes place year after year – ensuring the event itself delivers for the wider world.”
