Despite
Arab Spring and political tensions in the region, about 8.8 million
tourists visited Egypt in the first nine months of this year
and country received
tourism revenue of 6.9 billion.
Egypt’s
Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou announced that Egypt projects a rise
of about 20 percent in tourist numbers this year.
"What
I'm targeting is 11.5 million to 12 million tourists by the end of
December,” Zaazou said. He said numbers should returnto
2010 levels by the end of 2013 depending on the securitysituation.
Some
14.5 million tourists visited Egypt in 2010, generating around 12.5
billion Egyptian pounds ($2.05 billion) in revenue, whereas last year
9.8 million tourists brought in 8.8 billion pounds.
